Ever Wonder What it’s Like to Live in “The Burgh”?

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  This city is like a towering “Primanti’s Sandwich” of cultural diversity, with each layer complementing one another to form the most interesting and unique experience one can ever imagine enjoying.  Pittsburgh is the second largest city in the United States, it is ranked 6th nationally for job density, and as of 2010 Pittsburgh had a 7 county metropolitan population of 2,356,285…..That’s a lot of “Yinzer’s”.

While the city is historically known for its steel industry, today its economy is largely based on healthcare, education, technology, robotics, and financial services. The downturn of the steel industry left no steel mills within the City of Pittsburgh and only two remaining mills in the county, though more than 300 steel-related businesses remain in the area.  By contrast, the region supports 1,600 technology companies, ranging from a Google campus to small start ups.

It is no surprise if you have not heard of the great music scene Pittsburgh has to offer, fine dining, and extensive art gallery selection, because most great things in Pittsburgh build reputation by word of mouth.  One of the best things about Pittsburgh is the sense of community that each little corner of the city has to offer.  With selections like The Strip District, South side, Lawrenceville, Oakland, and Squirrel Hill, it is like living in a city composed of beautifully arranged intersecting sub cultures that harmoniously coexist with one another.

National Geographic Traveler ranked Pittsburgh as one of the best places in the world to visit in its 2012 list of the Best of the World.

Traveler sees something in Pittsburgh that you can too: our hometown spirit, great museums like the one honoring our own Andy Warhol, lots of fun things for families to do, great restaurants and places to stay.
