Pickerington is a southeastern city/suburb of Columbus, Ohio with a growing population of about 18,000 people.  This quiet town outside of the state capital boasts a family friendly community and lifestyle, a superb public educational system and a growing culture.

The Pickerington local school district is one of Ohio’s premier school districts. For the past 5 years, the district has earned among the top ratings for the State of Ohio Educational Report Card. The Ohio Department of Education ratings are based on student performance, graduation rates and attendance rates.

Life in Pickerington

Pickerington boasts a historic downtown scene that plays host to a variety of fun events and activities throughout the year. Residents enjoy annual and seasonal festivals such as the annual Fourth of July celebration and the Violet Festival. The Summer Concert Series starts off with a blast every June and runs all summer bringing a variety of artists to the stage every Sunday evening.

The Pickerington Parks and Recreation department maintains over 150 acres of parklands that stretch across seven parks. the parks are a scenic treat to the area and are the home of the Zeller-Smith Covered Bridge that is represented on the city’s seal.

Pickerington has a great location, nestled next to all of the amenities of their major metropolitan next door neighbor Columbus. Not only is Pickerington minutes from the city but also only a short ways away from Port of Columbus Airport and Rickenbacker International Airport.

OhioHealth announced this past summer that they will be building a medical campus in Pickerington that will include outpatient and surgical centers as well as an emergency department. The Pickerington campus will be at the intersection of Refugee Road and Route 256 and will be an affiliation between the Fairfield Medical Center and Mount Carmel. The OhioHealth’s Pickerington campus should bring about 180 jobs to the community.

Over the past 10 years, young families have chosen Pickerington as a their new home thanks to the lifestyle and advantages the area has proven to offer. The major industries of the area are health care, finance, technical services and insurance.
