As time progresses, it seems as though there is more and more evidence to suggest that the store-bought household cleaning products you grew up on are not so good for you and your family.
Some household cleaning products are laden with toxic chemicals that are harmful for your pets, children, and the environment. Here are a few highly effective yet very simple cleaners and cleansers that you can make with ingredients you most likely have in your pantry!
Fill a large spray bottle halfway with white vinegar. Add a few drops of your favorite dish soap (if you really want to go au naturel, purchase one that is plant based and hypoallergenic). Fill the rest of the bottle up with water and shake before each use.
For tough stains that would normally require an industrial strength cleaner, try sprinkling baking soda on the spot and letting it sit for 10 minutes. Once time is up, vacuum the baking soda up. Mix white vinegar, dish soap, and warm water, then blot the stain with a sponge until it’s gone!
In a bowl, squeeze the juice of half a lemon. Add twice the amount of olive oil as lemon juice to the bowl, and top with a splash of white vinegar. Whisk until combined, then use a soft cloth to buff into your furniture. Since there is an oil component to this recipe, be sure to use some elbow grease when rubbing in to avoid an oily surface!
-ALL NATURAL AIR FRESHENER
Fill a large spray bottle to the top with white vinegar leaving room for a few drops of essential oil of your choice. Some refreshing ideas are lemon, lavender, lemongrass, grapefruit, or eucalyptus, all of which you can find at your local health food store. Since vinegar is a natural disinfectant, not only will this spray make your home smell amazing, but it will also eliminate bacteria!
So there you have it. Most of the products on this list take less effort to make than a trip to the store to purchase household cleaning products.
