Back to school time!
Many families hear “back to school” and it either brings emotions of joy or emotions of sorrow.
Parents with kids that are off for the summer months keep quite busy. During those months families tend to work less, and travel more. Here are a few tips to get back into the school mode and start this year off right!
Tip # 1 – Make sure you have your school supply list and start shopping! Make note to get the specified supplies so that you are able to keep up with the class work and stay organized.
Tip # 2 -Get your kids’ sleep schedules back to “School Time” at least one week before the first day of school.
Tip #3 -Get your kids involved in programs that they can do after school to keep them active. Or if you’re a working parent, Hire find an after school sitter for your kids while you’re at work.
Tip #4 – Have your kids read at least one book before the school year begins.
Tip #5 – Create a dedicated space for your kids to store their school supplies and technology.
Tips # 6 – Establish a specific space like the family office as the official “homework area”. Eliminate any distractions like TVs, I-pads and gaming stations from homework areas.
Tip # 7 -Ease into the routine. Switching from a summer to a school schedule can be stressful to everyone in the household. Avoid first-day-of-school mayhem by practicing your routine a few days in advance. Set the alarm clock, go through your morning rituals, and get in the car or to the bus stop on time. Routines help children feel comfortable, and establishing a solid school routine will make the first day of school go much smoother.
