With the Superbowl around the corner the game can cause a lot of big situations.
Whether it’s a big touchdown pass with seconds to go, or a big sack on the one, or just that big problem of spilling or the couch or the hardwoods floors. Here a few tips for the big stain or big spill.
- Water is a hardwood floors worst nightmare, especially if there is a lot of it, so if there is a spill of water on the floor, wipe it up right away with a wet/dry vacuum or soft towel.
- Food Spills. If caked or dried, use a sharpened knife blade and, working from the outer edge toward the center, scrape up the spill (while taking care not to scratch the wood surface). Rub the damaged spot first with a slightly dampened cloth, then with a dry one. If your floor has a waxed surface, re-wax and buff the area you’ve repaired.
- Oil and Grease. On a surface-finished (urethaned) floor, apply mineral spirits or TSP (tri-sodium phosphate) and wipe with a clean cloth. If your floor has a penetrating finish, applying TSP or a high-lye-content soap should do the trick.
- Furniture can be cleaned with water, mix a little dish soap with cool water, and using a wrung out sponge blot the stain with the soap mixture. DO NOT rub at the stain, at this point it’s unlikely that the stain will set in deeper, but rubbing can weaken and pill your fabric
Just a few tips to help with floors and furniture, it may take a little time out of the game however it will save a lot of money in the end.
