Dayton Commuter Guide: Best Suburbs for Downtown Workers

by Alexandra Sobek

Looking for the perfect Maronda Homes Community that provides an easier, less stressful commute to Downtown? Because Dayton is the intersection of two major interstates (I-75 and I-70), your commute success depends on staying outside the “mixing bowl” during peak hours.

We’ve compiled a list of our communities in these areas to help make your dreams of owning a new home while having a simplified daily routine a reality.

The “Fast Lane” (North of Dayton)

If you want to avoid the heavier traffic that flows from the southern suburbs toward Cincinnati, looking North is a strategic move.

Somerset Reserve (Troy)

  • Commute Time: 20–25 minutes.

  • The Route: A straight shot south on I-75.

  • Why it wins: Troy is a booming “commuter’s gem.” You are far enough north to enjoy lower density, but close enough that the drive is a high-speed interstate run.

  • Bonus: You are also perfectly positioned for a quick 15-minute commute to the Dayton International Airport.

The “Southside Standard” (I-75 South Corridor)

This is the most popular area for families due to the highly-rated school districts, though traffic can be slightly heavier here than in the North.

Clearview Crossing (Springboro)

  • Commute Time: 20–25 minutes.

  • The Route: I-75 North or OH-741 (which runs parallel to the highway).

  • Why it wins: Springboro is widely considered one of the best places to live in the Miami Valley. Maronda’s presence here offers a “best of both worlds” scenario—luxury suburban living with a commute that stays under a half-hour.

Trails of Greycliff (Franklin)

  • Commute Time: 25–30 minutes.

  • The Route: I-75 North.

  • Why it wins: Located just south of Springboro, this community offers a slightly more rural feel while keeping you within a 20-mile radius of the Dayton skyline.

Ready to find your dream home and simplify your commute? Many of these communities are close to selling out – don’t miss your chance to secure your home in one of Dayton’s commuter-friendly suburbs.
